Week 1.
Activity 2: Swimming To Safety
For this activity we had to listen to a podcast about the story of Yusra Mardini, and retell her story in our words.
Heres'smy retell:
Once upon a time there was a girl who loved to swim and swam competitively. Her name was Yusra Mardini. She was born in Damascus, Syria, a country being over come by war. Once her home was getting destroyed by bombs she new that she had to leave the country. She and her family fled the country by boat filled with 20 refugees. Once they had left the coast the motor broke down, she and her sisters became hero's! They jumped in the water and started pulling the boat behind them while they swam. Once they found their way to Germany Yusra auditioned to be in a German swimming team. She got in and she ad her team mate's became the first ever refugee teams ever to compete in the olympics.
