Cyber smart, media.

This week for manaiakalani me and Georgia had to make a poster about diffirent  types of media, Print media Broadcasting media and online media.  We chose to lay the poster out as colums and added images to give you a visual representation.  I had fun making this poster!!🎉 Georgia and I used google draw to create this poster. 

 

Surf to Turf

On the 28th the senior syndicate had our challenging Surf to Turf, Surf to Turf is when we run 5km from the Waimak to our Belfast school field. We ran a track from next to the Waimak down the main road and to the rugby club rooms driveway. 

Once we ran up the driveway we had to complete a set of challenges the first one was 1 minuter plank hold then chicken wire where we commando crawled under string. Then we had to 50 sit ups and then roll a tyre through cones and then run to the finish line. Once we passed the finish line we got to have a juice either a berry or cola, I got a cola one it was really refreshing!!

  After a decent half and hour a fire truck showed up, the firemen and women tied ropes to the front of the truck and we pulled from the end of the driveway to the top. Then they grabbed the hose out and wet everyone, even the rest of the school.  After the fire truck we got a sausage sizzle from the BCN as afternoon tea.

 Before we did surf to turf we had six weeks of training we would have a Tuesday morning training at 7:00am till 8:30am with Miss Wing and then we would have breakfast at the BCN, most of the time we would have cereal and hot chocolate but one lucky day Matua George made 100's of pancakes. He made noramal white chocolate pancakes chocolate pancake blueberry pancakes which were my favourite I had two. We also had practice after school on a Thursday till 4:00pm I couldn't go because I had dance. 

I really enjoyed Surf to Turf, it should become an annual thing. I bet all the younger students would have a blast and enjoy it! If I was still at school I would love to do it for the years to come!

Chapter 51 of 'The Best Birthday Ever!'   Of Georgia's journey! 

Chapter 51.

As she twisted and squirmed, her hair flipped up like a broom on top of her head.  She had PANIC written all over her rusted face she  screamed louder than 10000000, 0000000000 seagulls.  Little did she know that...............She was falling down the rabbit hole into Wonderland! 

She plumeted down, like a rocket decending back to earth. She landed all twisted on a field of grass. Or what she thought was grass....... It was actually, green apple liqorice. "Tooooooo Bbbadddd I Cccaaaaant eaaat itttttt." Georgia said as she was falling unconcious from her sudden experience. 

She was drenched in her own slobbery zombie drool. She could kind of see, it was really fuzzy. But...........

She saw a blurry  image, she thought she was hilousinating she thought she saw two ginormoous cards, a 2 of spades  and a 3 of hearts.  Georgia finally fully woke up. The cards were carrying her by her tiny bony arms. Her short uneven legs who could be mistaken for mishapen pencils weren't even touching the delicous green apple grass.  They were taking her.........  To the QUEEN of hearts!  

She walked up the sour patches steps into the caramal timtam throne room, her majesty Queen Georgia,  QUEEN of hearts! Was waiting for her......... 

"Your Majesty, we found this girl on the forbiddon field." Said the 3 of hearts. "What should we do with this rotton bag of  filth?" said the 2 of spades. The queen was staring into Georgias scared eyes. She didn't say a word. All of a asudden she stood up and walked towards Georgia who was kneeling on the red liqorice carpet. "What tis your name?" Said the queen. "Ahhhhh" "Georgia, your MaJeStY.....". "WHAT!!!!!!!".  

"THERE IS ONLY ROOM FOR ONE GEORGIA IN WONDERLAND, AND IT"S MEEEEEE!" Said the furocious queen! "What, I'm so sorry. Please dont hurt me!!!!!" said Georgia. "You will PAY!!!". Said the queen. "OFF WITH HER HEAD!!!" 🔪  "Fetch me one of the chefs knifes, as sharp as a zillion shards of glass 2 of spades". 

As bloood splatters all over the destroyed caramal timtams. Georgias blood made its way onto the Queens unforgettable face, she lifted her left hand and wiped the blood off with a smack. Still it stained her goregous antique doll face. "Dispose of her to my pets" said the queen. "Which ones your majesty?". Said the 3 of hearts. "Feed her to the crocs".......................

My Manaiakalani Blog Profile

This week with Sharon for Manaiakalani  we have been focusing on making blog profiles. We had to include key things about ourselves, etc. Our hobbies, what we like to do in our spare time, our favourite colour or food. I chose to do stuff about my family and my cultural background. I obviously mentioned my friends, my hobbies at the end and I even included what I want to be when I'm older.  The photo at the bottom of my profile is a photo of me and my best friend Georgia B, the one on the left is obviously with my !AMAZING! Chapter 50 of 'The Best Birthday Ever'!  Of Georgia's journey!

Chapter 50.

A lonely girl stared into her soul, through the mirror left in the attic of her place she called a home. She sat there with her hair in little plaites swinging below her shoulders. You see today was her birthday and she stared into the mirrors face and wished for the best birthday in the world! Little did she know that her wish would come true........ She turned her head is despair once she had made her wish, she sagged her back and walked like a zombie to the stairs. She thumped down! She fell onto her couch and when she sat dust poured out of the cushions. She didn't care a single bit.

 She had given up hope. Of having one single birthday. But she forced herself to block everything out, she tried her very best. But........ There was a trumpet echoing through the stairs coming from the attic. The promised herself to not get distracted and be misirable for ever. But, what could she do. It was like she was metal and a magnet was in the attic pulling her into the hole to be swallowed. She was being pulled, she had no control of what would happen to her once she entered the attic. She was squirming and grabbing everything she could to stop herself from going into the attic. 

Panicked! She screamed at the top of her lungs. But everyone she had ever loved was gone, she had no one....  When she unwantingly got up in the attic, with her hair all frizzy like when you rub your hair on a balloon. She had looked and the mirror and saw a disturbing image clouding its face of relection. It was her. She was wearing a dress that would of cost millions in her mind and gorgous makeup and a pretty pink party hat with a little yellow ribbon tying it all together. She. Had no words. She touched the mirrors face and........ 

Kereru DLO

For this week in the Kereru group we had free reign. We could chose to not use the task board or just finish off our book, 'Pig Heart Boy'. I chose to do the task board, we had to find out facts on Malorie Blackman, the author of 'Pig Heart Boy'.   My first thought of the author was that  she was white not black just becuase it was based in England.  I know thats bad to think but that was my immediate response to the first chapter of  the book. 

My Star Art!😍

This week we started to make these star art pictures. We had to colour in a star template  section by section. I did heaps of patterns with bright colours to make my star look really cool! I asked some of my friends Georgia B, Carma, Archie and lucas why they thought I was a star. I really appreciated the nice things they said about me, I couldn't ask for a better group of friends!😇❤👍 

Here are the things you need to make this:

. Black square peice of paper 30cm by 30cm

. A silver gold or bronze vivid to draw with 

. A star template with lines to fold

. A peice of white paper and pen to write with

.  Coloured felts and pencils

. Coloured chalk

. A great attitude!!!!!!!!

Here are the instructions on how to make this:

1. Grab your peice of paper and start your sentence off with   "I am a star because".

2. Write about 20 sentences starting with that and ask your friends why they think your a star.

3. Grab your peice of black paper 30cm by 30cm and grab your coloured and folded star and place it onto the black peice of paper in the center and draw around it lightly with a pencil. 

4. Take away the star and grab your silver bronze or gold vivid and write out all your "I am a star because".

5. Once you are done writing them out grab a bunch of paper and stuff up your star and glue it down where you drew your outline.

6. If you want you can grab some coloured chalk and go around the outside and smudge it to look like a coloured boarder, or you can draw around the star and smudge it so it looks like a shooting star!😆

7. Get it to look like you want it to and put it up on the wall if you want!

Kereru DLO

For this week in the Kereru group we were reading chapter 6 and 7 on Pig Heart Boy. We had to create what we think either what the outside entrance or the inside entrance using google draw. I choose to do what I think the inside entrance of the hospital. I did a very nice and kind looking man as the first face you see when you walk in, and to the left is where they keep all the pigs and torchering devices. To the right is a top secret facility with a pass code protected with all the mixies and potions for xenotransplantation. I had a great time making this because it is so bright and colourful and to me it looked like a illistration from a childrens book.

For this week we also had a sheet of questions we had to anwser about chapters  6 and 7. All the questions really related to the chapters that we were reading and I was happy that we had two activitys to don this week instead of one. 

 

Kereru DLO

For this week we read chapter four of "Pig Heart Boy". Our teacher is letting us take any angle from the book to do our DLO on. I chose to do my DLO on xenotransplantation, xenotransplantation is really interesting! I chose to do these slides because I think these are the key points about xenotransplantation. Most people automatically think that if you need to get a xenotransplant that you would get a monkeys or chimpanzees but.......... They are actually the worst animal to get a organ from. Because we are so similar to monkeys or chimpanzees it would be really bad for our body. 

Cybersmart Learning

For Manaiakalani we are learning about finding our way around our blog by using gadgets. The gadgets we are using  on our blog help us in so many ways they tell us things like who's seen our blog, to who's commented and what country their from, it was super useful! 

Here is a google drawing about things I never thought we could do on our blog and all the types of gadgets I used in the scavenger hunt.

I learnt that you can see how many viewers have looked at your blog. Who's commented and where they are right now and when. That when you make a post there are labels you chose to label your blog post under what its about. Etc. I found a lot of this useful, thank you Sharon. 

Haiku Poem

These are three of my Haiku poems that I wrote. The first one is about the first time I went parasailing with my Grandad, it will probably never happen again that's why its a great memory to have. 

The second Haiku poem is about the time I was born, I was born on Mothers Day 2008 in May. It was to be told the best day of my mothers life because not only it was mothers day but I was her gift! 

Kereru DLO

For this week my reading group we have started to read Pig Heart Boy. Its a really good book so far! For this activity we have to write adjectives that describe the two main characters in Pig Heart Boy. The Boy Cam is the main boy in the story he is the person this book is based on and Marlon is his best friend who is always worried about Cam. 

The reason I chose all these words to describe Cam, is he is brave to have been going through this experience of having a bad heart, and is a rule breaker because he does stuff that everyone wants him not to do. Marlon, is a very friendly boy and is as protective over Cam as his parents are.  He is a total dare devil, as well he loves to dive in the pool with his friends and is super competitive.

WALT: Make connections, text to world.
For this activity we get to pick a holiday destination and either make a poster about that country or a slide show, I chose to do a poster. 
The holiday destination I picked was France! I picked France because I´ve always wanted to go there and its the prettiest place, and I would like to try new food learn more about there culture and meet French people. I decided to make a poster about France and all there landmarks and call things to do. I drew all the pictures free hand. 
    

My Weekend!!!

My Weekend!!!

This weekend I was at my Dads! I had a great time. On Saturday my dad bought me a new mountain bike, its so cool!! It Marin brand and is blue with Marin in orange and I also got to pick a pink drink bottle holder. Then on Sunday my dad took me and my sister Olivia to Mcleans Forest for a bike ride. It was so awesome!! There were lots of twists and turns and high hills, my dad and me and my sister were having a great time! But right to the end on pour way back to the car park there was one of the last hills and my sister said ¨See Yaaa¨! But thats what went wrong...... She went to fast and didn´t use her left hand break and fell over and got her leg stuck under her handle bars and some ripped skin on her cheek. Shes fine now but she was really upset:( But other than her falling over we had a pretty good time! I really enjoyed it! Have you ever been mountain biking? Have you ever been to Mcleans Forest?

Back To School!!!

Back To School!!!

This is our first week back at school since Covid-19 started, for me this is a fantastic week! I couldn´t wait to be back at school with  my best friends Georgia B- Deputy Head Girl and Carma- Yellow House Captain and of course Miss Rogers my amazing teacher! Me and the other Prefects are having to go to stop points around the school to help kids get to their class in the morning and after school.  For our first week back things have changed since we were last a school, etc. We have to sanatize before and after we leave class, our desks are spread out, you can´t be sick at school and not even a sniffle, NO parents are allowed on school site. I´m really exited to be back at school and I hope everyone else is to. Are you exited to be back at school? Is it fun to be with your friends again?

For this week I've done some art work. I have done 4 drawings some with crayons pens and even felts. I hope you enjoy! I used the colour wheel and did some hot colours with cool colours, and some contrasting. Enjoy! 1. This is a sihlouette of a women's dress. From the back I did the dress with different shades of blue and green to contrast up against the sofisticated skin colour model. I blended the green and the blue to look like they were blended together. For this picture the dress is coloured in with highlighters and the rest are pencils.







                                                                               
2. This a a sihlouette of a UFO ubducting a slice
 of pizza, I put the words "pick up" in bold
 lettering is because its kinda like when we get
takeways and they say order up this is what aliens do!:) For this particular drawing I used my Artline210 MEDIUM 0.6 pen to make it stand out. I used a lot of dots to make it stand out and look like lights reflecting down and onto the UFO. I put stars around it and tried to put a bit of realisim into this piece.









                                                                           

3. This is a picture that just came to mind it is a globe with continents with roses and the words that are upside down say "Where is my mind?" I wanted to contrast colours, so I made the globe shades of turqoise and the continents a very contrasting pink, with baby pink roses around.










                                                                           
4. This is just a doodle I made up. Its basicly
 when you put  a piece of paper under another
so when you colour in right to the edge it doesn't
get on the surface your working on. I did that a
lot of times with different colours and shade. This
is one of my favourite drawings because its tricky
to the eye and is a pleasent image.

My 12th Birthday!

Yesterday was my 12th birthday! I was really looking forward to having my first birthday on a school day in the last two years, but you can't control what happens in the world.

My mum knew she couldn't throw me a party or get streamers and what not so she filled my entire office with 100 or more colourful balloons! It was really cool she also made me a nice bowl of porridge for breakfast along with cranberry juice. Following the day I my class sang me happy birthday, it was so funny because they were singing at different speeds.

When my mum got home she started to make a cake, she didn't just make an ordinary cake she made little cupcakes with fondant flamingos and rainbows. Once she made them I headed over to play a game of rummikub with my grandparents, that's when mum came over singing happy birthday! The cupcakes tasted delious but, I didn't win a game of rummikub.

Then my mum headed out to get us dinner, we were having KFC! I love KFC, we got all the important sides. 2 box's of chips, 2 ginormous buckets of mash potato and gravy, 1 big container of coleslaw and a 20 piece jumbo KFC bucket of chicken! It was all so delicous, my nana wants me to eat the last t pieces of chicken for lunch, to bad we finished all the chips, coleslaw and potato and gravy to have with it. :(

For dessert we had our own ice cream sundae bar, previously on Saturday night me and mum made one big batch of vanilla ice cream using, cream, condense milk and vanilla extract. First you whip 600m'l of  cream and make sure its stiff but not to stiff  and in 1 can of condense milk and then add in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and let chill in the freezer for maybe a day or two. Enjoy! Well we made 1 big batch of vanilla ice cream but before we put it into the freezer we split it in half so it was 1 plain vanilla and we folded boysenberry's into the other half it tasted delicous! The boysenberry one was like boysenberry ripple. We had lots of lollies and sauce to put on them we had chocolate sauce, caramal sauce and rasberry coulie. For toppings we had sprinkles, tiny nuts, gummie bears, chocolate fish, golden nuggets, pink wafers, sherbet sticks. It was amazing. P.S There's leftover ice cream so we get to have a sundae bar tonight and tommorow.

To finish off the night I got to have a face time with my dad, step  mother my little sisters Sophia and Olivia. They said happy birthday to me and cant wait to see me not this weekend but the one after. Then after I had a chat with dad we had a late night spa! We had the lights on and the jets and were staring at the stars. I had a lot of fun on my birthday. I had the best birthday ever! Mum said once lock downs over and we can actually do stuff I can have the party I wanted and the original present she was going to give me. Also my dad and step mum said they would take me out to do something as well etc. Going to the gondala by the hills. Thank you mum for throwing me this party and doing the best you could. 1. which activity have you enjoyed the most. (I have enjoyed all of the activity's but my favourite is, week 2, day 2, activity 3: I Have A Dream. I liked this activity because I really look up to Rosa Parks and the history she made. But some of  the other activity's I enjoyed was week 2, day 1, activity 3: 'Dear Jacinda'. I liked a lot of the chose your own activity at the end of each week, week 1, day 1, activity 3: Scaling New Heights.)

2. Which activity did you least enjoy. ( I liked most of the activity's but the ones I disliked was, wee 4, Day 2, activity 2: K-Pop Hero's).

3, List three things you have learned while completing this programme. (1. I have learned a lot of different things about a lot of groups, country's and people. 2. I loved waking up every morning and pushing myself and saying, "Come on do that, no now do this, and just getting focused. 3. The last thing I've learned is that there's a lot of cool things to research about and do blog posts).

Day 4: Try Your Own Tapa


For this activity please create your own tapa cloth design. You can draw your design on paper or using a drawing app such as Google Draw. On your blog, post an image (photo or screenshot) of your tapa design and describe what each part of your picture represents (means).

I took the inspiration for the design of my tapa off one of my brothers samoan t-shirts. The t-shirt is a nice blue which I also did for my design with lots of cool shapes and dimentions.




 For my design I made sure I did the thickness 
 of the lines and making it look crisp and sharp
 against the colourful background. There are a
lot of different shapes and directions that they
all go in. I made sure I had the right sizing for
each pattern and I made sure I could fit every-
thing in one place.

If I was able to write a movie I would base it on a short story I wrote during this 2020 quarintine. My short story that is the base of the story. 

Creature From the Deep

It came from the sea, calmly at first. An enormous, slithering tentacle slowly oozing its way over the top of the sea wall, exploring the metal and concrete shapes with suckers the size of your front door. Then, as more and more people came, and shrieks and cries of alarmed filled the air, the creature became angry. All hell broke loose................ In an almighty tangle of limbs and water and buildings and people, the beast came violently exploding out of the frothing water. The normally sturdy metal supports of the buildings groaned under the extreme weight of gigantic tentacles crushing them. Panic! Complete panic set in! Everyone wondered. But where had the creature come from? What did it want? How could anybody stop it? There wasn't any time for people to think. Only to run................

When I'm older I want to be a chef/cook! I would like to own a resturant, and through the years get a michilan star. When I finish high school I would like to go to university, the one I've got my eye o is Ara. I would study there, graduate! I might go travel around the world to try different cusine. When I travel I would like to become a sue chef or a apprentice.

1. This is a sihlouette of a womens dress from the back I did the dress with different shades of blue to contrast the black figure with something bright. I had to blend each colour and I started with dark to the top and continue down with lighter blues.

















                       
2. This is a dress I designed. It has a triangle neck     
 line with cherry blossom fabric, but the lining of
the fabric is white. Then the dress is still the cherry
blossom fabric with folds in the side and matching
 pink heels.


















3. This is a picture of a black boring eye, but spurts of colour pop out almost like creativity! I've used hot and cool colours to contrast against the boring eye. The way the colours spurt out it kinda makes a shape of a diamond, I must of done that unconciously.

In he 1950's to the 1960's black men an women were forced to be seperated by everyone else. At this time, there were laws that kept black and white people seperated - they went to different schools,used different toilets and even sat in different parts of the bus. They ate in different areas of a restaurant. This was called segregation. With these type of laws there were many protests against them. Joining these protests was an African American women named Rosa Parks. In 1955 Rosa Parks boarded a bus in Alabama and because of segregation all the seats that were meant for the black people were taken up so she decided she would sit in the white section of the bus. But on one of the stops she refused to give up her seat on the bus to a white passenger. This brave action that Rosa Parks did, made history and changed the way that African Americans (people of colour) got treated in America. What Rosa Parks did put every other black advicater out of the books. she did what no other girl/lady would ever think of doing! Rosa Parks changed the way Americans and every other country think about treating others. Rosa Parks is a role model because she was an independent women, speaker for her people and is brave. She was an African American civil rights activist, when Rosa Parks did not give her seat up in Alabama she showed extreme bravery courage and then changed the segregation is today and forever!
